The "I want to Live” Project


 

We helped five critically ill children:

- David Serov (gastroenteroschisis) - – humanitarian supplies (food stuff, diapers, medicine) were given to the amount of UAH 1247.10;

- Olga Marchuk (traumatic brain injury, lung laceration and spleen rupture) – medicine, medical consumables and a mattress for preventing pressure sores were given to the amount of UAH 1524.60;

- Marina Kobzeva (aplastic aenemia) – medicine were given to the amount of UAH 633.56;

- Kristina Kurmeliova (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) - medicine were given to the amount of UAH 8309.52;

- the Nikolenkos, 3 children (epigenetic diseases, folate cycle enzymes deficiency) – laboratory examinations and consultations were paid for (UAH 3150.00);

The "Modern Hospital” Project


The Dniepropetrovsk regional children’s hospital surgery unit (patient capacity of 40, including 10 beds for cancer patients)was provided with medicine to the amount of UAH 700.36.

The newborn anaesthesiology and reanimation department of the Dniepropetrovsk regional children’s clinical hospital got medicine to the amount of UAH 3668.88.

The infection diseases unit No 3 of the Dniepropetrovsk city children’s clinical hospital No 1 got three ingalers to the amount of UAH 1659.83.

The newborns’ pathology unit of the Professor Rudnev children’s clinical hospital got medicine to the amount of UAH 1092.35.

The "You Are not Alone” Project


We provided abandoned children in hospitals with food, medicine and hygiene products:

- hematology unit of the Dnepropetrovsk regional clinical hospital – to the amount of UAH 1393.16;

- infectious disease department No 3 of the city children’s clinical hospital No 1 – to the amount of UAH 1,400;

- infectious disease department No 7 of the city clinical hospital No 6 – to the amount of UAH 1654.40;

"Give a Joy to Kids” Project

 

Twelve creative work classes were held in The Dniepropetrovsk regional children’s hospital surgery department (patient capacity of 40, including 10 beds for cancer patients) during the month.

42 laughing therapy sessions were held in the units of the Dniepropetrovsk regional children’s hospital and the Children’s city clinical hospital No 2. The necessary materials and presents for children were purchased to the amount of UAH 996.50.

A pilgrimage trip to Nikolo-Vasiliyevsky monastery in Nikolskoye village of Donetsk region was organized for critically ill children, canceer and hematology patients, the children who had finished basic therapy, and for the parents who had lost their children because of the diseases. Thirty children and adults took part in the trip. The expenditure accounted for UAH 4,080.

"THE WORLD WITHOUT ORPHANS” PROGRAMME


The "I Need a Family!” project


During the period under review four visits were made to the regional institutions (on October 16 – two visits, on October 17 and on October 29) where some video materials about 32 children were shot. The shootage was given for editing (58 media profiles are being worked on now). The profiles of 73 more children were placed on the website.

As on November 01, 2012 37 children whose media profiles had been placed on the «Медиапаспорт» website found their families, among them nine children with special needs.

Now there are 146 children’s profiles on the website. These children are looking forward to be adopted.

In October 12 people asked our organization for advice concerning adoption, legal guardianship and foster family creation. All of them were provided with necessary support.

The "Parental Club” Project


In October three visits were made to the foster families and family type orphanages to make acquaintance with the families and provide them with psycholgical support. On October 24 and 26 the Baranov family type children’s home in Dnepropetrovsk district was visited, and on October 31 a visit was made to Nikopol district to consult the Markov family type children’s home.

Two mutual aid group meetings for foster parents took place on October 14 and October 28. 15 people took part in the meetings. The meetings were facilitated by the psychologist. The problems that were discussed during the meetings had been chosen by the participants themselves. The parents are not always able to cope with the problems all by themselves and need a piece of advice from an expert or from the people who have haad similar experience. Thus, the following topics were discussed:

Children with mentality frustration.

Parents and teachers’ cooperation.

Affection.

Cooperation with the adopted children’s natural relatives.

Children’s and family’s adaptation to placing a child into a family.

Particular features of the adopted child’s upbringing.


29 individual consultations on different matters (legal advice, psychology, pedagogics) were given in October, too.

The "Cosiness” Project


In October, 2012 we helped 11 families:

- the Yermolenko family-type orphanage from Dnepropetrovsk district was provided with clothes and toys to the amount of UAH 400;

- the Lyskin family-type orphanage from Novomoskovsk district was provided with humanitarian aid for buying building materials to the amount of UAH 10,000;

- the Derevianko foster family from Dnepropetrovsk was provided with pastry to the amount of UAH 250;

- the Koval foster family from Novomoskovsk district was provided with humanitarian aid for buying building materials to the amount of UAH 10,000;

- the Yaryna foster family from Magdalynivka district was provided with clothes, footwear and toys to the amount of UAH 1,910;

- the Ivanets family-type orphanage from Dnepropetrovsk was provided with pastry to the amount of UAH 750;

- the Lubenets foster family from Verkhniodniprovsk was provided with clothes, footwear, books and toys to the amount of UAH 2,200;

- the Vovk foster family from Verkhniodniprovsk district was provided with clothes, footwear, toys and pastry to the amount of UAH 718.10;

- the Vlasov family type orphanage from Verkhniodniprovsk was provided with clothes, footwear, toys, books and detergents to the amount of UAH 2,945;

- the Dmytriakova family type orphanage from Dnepropetrovsk district was provided with a thermometer to the amount of UAH 10;

- the Baranov family-type orphanage from Dnepropetrovsk district was provided with the humanitarian aid for buying beds and house reconstruction to the amount of UAH 960;

- the Yesypchuk foster family from Kryvyi Rih was provided with pastry to the amount of UAH 17,263;

- The "Transfiguration Social Adaptation Centre” Charity organization was provided with pastry to the amount of UAH 6,000.

The "Traveler Club” Project


An excursion to the places of interest of Odessa for 20 orphans and children abandoned of the parental care was being prepared during October. The excursion was scheduled on November 02 – 05.

In October English classes were adjourned for the children of five family-type orphanages (Ivanets, Ionov, Lyskin, Pinchuk, Shevchenko).

THE "STEP INTO THE FUTURE” PROGRAMME


The "Nip and Tuck” Project


In October three boarding schools graduates (Tetiana K. , Bohdan D. and Artem D.) were provided with leagal advice.

Artem D. was given charity aid to the amount of UAH 1412.18.

Nina V. was provided with clothes, footwear and linen to the amount of UAH 1,835.

Tetiana K. was provided with footwear, clothes, a cot, toys, infant food and diapers to the amount of UAH 3227.39.

Nadiya S. was provided with clothes, footwear, pastry, detergents and toys for her child to the amount of UAH 1,171.20.

Bohdan D. was provided with clothes, footwear, pastry, detergents and toys for a child to the avount of UAH 1,618.

Igor S. was provided with clothesto to the amount of UAH 120.

THE "FOR LIFE” PROGAMME


Four women who had found themselves in a hard situation were supported:

Hanna G. was provided with children’s clothes, footwear and toys to the amount of UAH 1,350;

Vira S. was provided with children’s clothes, footwear, toys and other infant products to the amount of UAH 640;

Oksana P. was provided with children’s clothes, footwear, toys and other infant products to the amount of UAH 736;

Svitlana N.. was provided with children’s clothes, footwear, toys and other infant products to the amount of UAH 538.38;

VOLUNTEER CENTRE


During the month the volunteers took an active part in the organization’s projects: organized support of children’s hospitals units, assisted in preparing and holding the organization’s events, gave art-therapy classes in hematology and surgery units of the regional children’s clinic hospital, translated the material for our website, wrote the articles, sorted the stuff in the warehouse, fitted and maintained the "hope boxes”, accompanied the children in camping tours and organized excursions, took part in photo and video shooting for the media.deti.dp.ua website.

As a whole, in October the volunteers worked for 520 hours.

On October 16 Italian courses for the organization’s volunteers started. The classes are twice a week.

On October 16 the Clown School classes started. There were four classes in October.

On October 27 Jan Rogala gave a master class for the volunteers in the "Shelter+” youth centre in Kryvoi Rog as a part of the Clown School. 20 persons were present.

PR


In October the results of the Ukrainian contest of annual reports hold by the «ТЦК» creative centre were announced. The Dnepropetrovsk regional charity organization’s "Rainbow Shine” annual report 2011 was the first among 27 participants.

Due to the "Media-Guide” advertising agency video tapes about our organization are shown on the video monitors in the route taxis No 121, 146B, 87B, 119A and 38.

On October 01 a classical music concert took place as a part of "The Meeting Place is the Island of Classics” music project. The concert was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of "Lestvitsa” Centre of Orthodox Culture. During the concert its organizers presented a cheque for UAH 3,000 to pay for Yulia Remez rehabilitation course.

In October our organization took part in two exhibitions in the "Meteor” Expo-centre. From October 02 to October 05 we took part in the «Facade in design – 2012» International exhibition of the energy efficiency building and design. From October 16 to October 19 we took part in the "Mashprom 2012” 12th International exhibition of industrial equipment and metal-working. We presented our three projects: "Children’s Town”, "Media Profile” and "Corporative and Social Voluntary Work”, answered the questions and handed out the leaflets.

On October 05 the last of the five "Kind Hearts” events took place. The volunteers were handing out the flyers and holding an all-prize lottery, a charity fair and entertaining games for children. As a result of five events UAH 4003.73 were collected to help the critically ill children. Bit what is more important, a lot of people learnt about our organization’s activity, about our projects and about the people who need help.

In October we continued collecting wastepaper as a part of "Save the Tree” charity project. 7,180 kg of wastepaper were collected during two months. This means that UAH 3,236 will be spent on buying medical equipment for the children’s hospitals. Two more educational establishments supported our project in October: the Dnepropetrovsk College of trade and industry and Dnepropetrovsk Assembly College.

On October 27 and 28 a charity event "The Basket of Kindness” took place in the "MOST CITY” trade and entertainment centre. It was aimed to collect aid for the abandoned children who are in the hospitals now. The total result of the event is as following: UAH 2349.39 were collected from the "Hope Boxes” and UAH 1317.59 were collected in the "Baskets”.

On October 19 a press conference "The Voluntary Clown School Is Open” took place in the "DNEPR POST’ Media centre. The "Healthy Child” Project manager Anastasia Savitska and the "Clown School” Project director Jan Rogala took part in it.
