RESOURCE AND TRAINING CENTRE

On May 29 – 31, 2013 as part of social partnership our organization received a delegation from Moscow: Aleksandra Surenovna Arakelova (headmistress of St Dimitry Orthodox children’s home in Moscow), Yelena Valerievna Lutkovskaya (deputy director of the children’s home patronized by St Martha and Maria cloister) and Irina Viacheslavovna Soloviyeva (manager of St Tikhon’s Orthodox University youth and social work department). We made a presentation of our work experience in the field orphanhood elimination, organized visits to the foster families and family type children’s homes, showed how the mutual support group actually worked. All the three of our guests were enthusiastic and ready to implement the received knowledge and experience at home. We gave our guests some printed materials about the "Rainbow Shine” Foundation’s work to make sure nothing is going to be forgotten. And we presented them with some souvenirs decorated with Petrykivka paintings to please their souls. Aleksandra, Irina and Yelena have invited us to visit Moscow and learn about their unique experience of work with the foster families.

On June 13 – 15 a training session for the foster parents was held. The topic of the session, "When Love Is not Enough…” was devoted to one of the most important matters – orphans’ affection forming. 25 people took part in the training session. The participants stressed on the importance and practical meaning of the session and noted that "Affection forming map” was really the basis of bringing up a child. The parents also spoke about the importance of knowing the age crises, loss survival and so on.

On June 21 – 25 a training session for the adopters and candidates for becoming adopters was held. 14 people took part in the session. Psychological preparation for the adoption is a very important condition of the successful child’s adaptation in a foster family. Lack of one of the components of such preparation leads to difficulties and problems in the field of parents – children relationship. The participants pointed out that the training session was very useful and informative, as the stepparents often use their intuition to succeed in such a delicate matter as bringing up an adopted child. And sometimes they don’t know what to do to become the nearest people for their children and whether to tell the truth about their native parents. The training course had provided them with wonderful opportunity to get the necessary knowledge. The participants also said that due to the training sessions they could not only learn new things but meet their fellow-thinkers and exchange their experience. Next training session is to take part in November.

In June the following articles came out:

Hurry up for good Deeds!, Foster Parents, Unite!, A Foster Family in Ukraine // Reklamnoye Pole (Advertising Field) newspaper;

The www.mbfportal.com, www.dnepr.on-nash.dp.ua, www.056.ua, www.pravoslavye.org.ua, www.eparhia.dp.ua, www.gorod.dp.ua websites provided us with information support, placing articles and announcements on their resources.
